  • The following events apply only to our 8th Grade students!
     
    It's time for our 8th Graders to start thinking about High School! In preparation for their transition, we have some exciting events coming up that we wanted to let you know about!
     
    1/14-1/15 - High School Ahead Presentations in the Auditorium*
    1/21- PTECH Presentation (AM Assembly in the Auditorium)
    1/22-1/23 JROTC Presentations in the Auditorium*
    1/24 Trip to the High School
     
    *Presentations taking place in the Auditorium marked with an asterisk will be taking place during Social Studies classes.
     
    The PTECH Program is a full day program at CiTi and OCC. Students from nine school districts blend together in an accelerated program that incorporates many dual college credits embedded in high school courses. Students are immersed in the growing world of advanced manufacturing through mentoring, college coursework, industry site visits, industry challenges, career exploration activities, job shadowing and internship opportunities.
     
    Students interested in the PTECH Program must return an application and go through an interview process. Space is limited and highly sought after.
     
     
    MACS is also proud to offer the opportunity for our HS students to join the JROTC Program. Our Junior Reseve Officers' Training Cor[s program is affiliate with the US Marine Corps and the curriculum is designed to develop the leadership abilities of every student regardless of the career path they choose to follow. Students are taught the kind of self-discipline, self-confidence, and leadership skills that can help them successfully navigate the challenges of adulthood.
     
    Students will be under no obligation to join the military services, however if they choose to do so, they can enter service with a higher entry level paygrade. Successful completion of the program also makes students eligible for scholarships available at many colleges and universities around the country. It also reflects favorably for those students who seek appointments at United States services academies.

  • Ms. Robbins, Ms. Russo and Mr. McPherson will be meeting with 8th graders to begin the process of scheduling for High School in January! In the meantime, watch this space to see what we have coming up for our 8th graders and your journey to High School!!!
