November 2021
Our District has a rich history, with formal education being a goal of the earliest settlers when in the first recorded town meeting in 1798, the voters made provision for public schools. In our ongoing mission to educate and motivate students to be successful, responsible citizens, we are incredibly proud of our offerings in academics, the arts, athletics and career and technical education. We are impressed with the achievements of our students in each of those areas.
We have a strong administrative team, along with knowledgeable, dedicated teachers and staff who work diligently to maximize student learning. We cherish our positive relationship with our community and value the support of our Board of Education. This collaborative helps to ensure that our scholars will learn at high levels.
As the recently appointed Superintendent, I am excited to partner with staff, students, families and community members to educate our young people. To introduce myself, I will share that I grew up in Georgia and attended college in Pennsylvania where I met my husband, a native of New York State. I have extensive experience in education as a teacher, academic coach, principal and assistant superintendent, fully believing that all students can learn when instruction includes appropriate supports and pacing. I also believe that teachers and staff need support so that they can do their jobs effectively. On a more personal level, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and participating in all the outdoor opportunities available in our area. I love Central New York, particularly our wild weather!
The pandemic has changed how we do school, but it has not changed our commitment or focus on putting students first while providing a safe, secure environment for all. I am inspired by the energy of our school family and I look forward to celebrating many successes in the new year.
Sincerely,
Donna Runner, Ed.D.
