2023 Capital Improvement Project Update – August 22, 2025

Dear MACS Family and Community,

Our contractors are working diligently to complete summer upgrades in time for the start of school! These improvements mark significant progress in our ongoing Capital Project, which will continue throughout the school year to enhance security and infrastructure—ensuring a safe, well-maintained learning environment for all our scholars.

All school buildings will feature new LED digital signs to keep you informed with real-time updates as you pass by. Be sure to watch for exciting changes at the Middle School!

Mexico High School

• Roof Area L & M
  • Flashing and detailing work for Roof Area L
  • Stone removed from Roof Area M
  • Materials loaded onto roof for roof area M
  • Initial Demolition and installation of insulation and rubber
• Roof hatch installation
• Masonry grinding and repointing at High School
• First set of steps to catwalk completed
• Condensate tank housekeeping pad formed and poured

Mexico Middle School

• Placement of mesh and bolsters for concrete walk pours

• Concrete pours for concrete walkway adjacent to the building and course of brick and mortar for top of manholes and catch basins to meet grade per details

• Final grading for paving in bus loop and parking lot

• Foundations for gate operator

 

• Installation of box rails

• Rough grading for grass areas 

Mexico Elementary

• Final cap sheet for roofing
• Field measuring for window replacements
• Installation of conduit and wiring for security features (Lockdown)

Palermo Elementary School

• Lintel flashing 
• Repointing and cleaning
• Installation of brick at lintels
• Field measuring for window replacements
• Installation of conduit and wiring for security features (Lockdown)

New Haven Elementary School

• Brick repointing and repair at entry elevation
• Joint sealant and clean trim
• Brick repointing and repair in courtyard
• Installation of conduit and wiring for security features (Lockdown & Strobes)

 Bus Garage

• Overhead doors installed at O&M and receiving

 

• Overhead door operators installed
• Grounding wire installation complete and operators powered up
