Palermo Elementary hosts second Trick or Trot run

Palermo Elementary students enjoyed a festive fall outing as the school held its second Trick or Trot run, bringing together students from every grade level for a day of physical activity and seasonal fun.
Organized by Palermo Elementary physical education teacher Mr. John Hansen, the event gave students an opportunity to get outside, stay active and enjoy a unique twist on a traditional fall activity.
Students took to the course, which wrapped around the back of the school, in the morning, enjoying beautiful autumn weather despite a bit of a chill in the air. Students were able to enjoy apples and cider after they finished the race.
Mr. Hansen thanked the Mexico CSD Grounds Crew, Appledale Orchards, Wegmans, Palermo Elementary PTC, and Custodian Mr. Scott Mehlin for their hard work and donations. He also shouted out Palermo Elementary Principal Mr. Robert Briggs.
“Mr. Briggs is a huge supporter of this event and PE as our building principal,” said Mr. Hansen. “Furthermore, the support of our teachers and support staff helps make this event even possible. Our staff always go above and beyond for our students. It takes everyone to make an event like this successful. Palermo is truly a special place.”
The Trick or Trot run offered a fun way to promote physical activity, school spirit and a sense of community at Palermo Elementary, with students across the building taking part in the seasonal celebration.
