MACS voters approve 2026-27 budget, elect 3 new Board of Education members

Mexico Academy & Central School District voters approved its 2026-27 budget and elected three new members to the Board of Education.
The proposed $73 million budget for next school year passed 382-194, and voters also passed a proposition for the district to purchase several diesel and gasoline school buses, 420-157.
“On behalf of the entire school district, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to our community for your continued support in passing this year’s budget and participating in the Board of Education elections,” said MACS Superintendent Dr. Donna Runner. “Your commitment to our schools allows us to provide meaningful opportunities for our students and maintain the high standards our community values. We look forward to a successful and exciting year ahead, working together to support every student.”
In alphabetical order followed by total votes received, elected to the school board were Amanda McIntyre (445), Kevin L. Gates (393) and Darlene Upcraft (435).
The vote occurred Tuesday, May 19, in the Mexico Middle School gym, with more than 550 total votes cast in the election.
