Letter From Dr. Runner Regarding Emergency (Snow Day) Give-Back Days and Weather Considerations

Dear MACS Family and Community,
I am writing to provide an update regarding our use of emergency (snow) days for the 2025–2026 school year.
At this time, it appears that the District will have two unused emergency (snow) days to return. In accordance with our emergency day protocol—and as reflected on the school calendar shared at the beginning of the year—we are planning to “give back” these days as follows:
- Friday, May 22, 2026 – No School
- Tuesday, May 26, 2026 – No School
Please note that this plan is contingent upon not needing to use any additional emergency days between now and May 22. This includes not only winter weather, but also potential school closures related to the new heat index requirements, which may impact operations prior to the Memorial Day holiday. If an emergency day is required for any reason during that period, one or both of the dates listed above would revert to regular instructional days, depending on the number of emergency days used. We will continue to closely monitor weather conditions and will communicate promptly with staff and families should any changes become necessary.
Thank you for your continued understanding, flexibility, and support.
Sincerely,
Dr. Runner
Superintendent of Schools
