National Anti-Bullying Tour Visits MACS Elementary Schools

Laughter, learning and meaningful conversations about kindness are filling elementary schools across the Mexico Academy & Central School District as the nationally touring Box Out Bullying program visited every elementary school to share their message.
Students are participating in high-energy, interactive assemblies designed to help them stand up instead of standing by when they witness bullying. During the district-wide visit, two age-appropriate versions of the program were presented for lower and upper elementary students.
The initiative supports New York State’s Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) by helping schools strengthen respectful and inclusive learning environments and providing practical tools students can use in everyday situations.
“One of the strengths of Box Out Bullying is how clearly it aligns with the goals of DASA and social-emotional learning,” said New Haven Elementary Principal Brian Carnes. “The presentation gives students practical language and strategies they can use to stand up for their peers and respond constructively when conflicts arise. The engagement from our students was remarkable.”
District leaders also noted the importance of programs that support both student well-being and state mandates.
“Our students were completely engaged from start to finish,” said Palermo Elementary Principal Robert Briggs. “The interactive nature of the program helps students understand that creating a respectful school environment is something everyone shares responsibility for. It’s a powerful way to reinforce the values we work hard to teach every day.”
