Voters approve 2025 Capital Project referendum
Mexico Academy & Central School District will held a Capital Project vote on Wednesday, Dec. 10, which was approved by the voters. Voters approved the proposition, 74-27.
The project, valued at $18 million, will be funded through available state building aid and capital reserves and cause no additional tax impact on district residents, MACS officials said.
“Because school buildings age and educational needs evolve, it’s essential that we are always planning or executing a capital project to ensure our facilities remain safe, functional and aligned with modern learning standards,” wrote MACS Superintendent Dr. Donna Runner in the district’s Capital Project newsletter, which recently was mailed to all residents of MACS.
The 2025 Capital Project is planned to impact all five MACS schools and its Bus Garage, with construction anticipated for early 2027 following design, state review and awarding processes should the proposal be approved.
