Dr. Runner Letter: Capital Project work updates 5/7
May 7, 2025
Dear MACS Family and Community,
I am pleased to share that our capital project has reached an exciting milestone, and you will soon see construction activities beginning across our district. This progress is a testament to our collective commitment to improving our school facilities for the benefit of our students and community.
As we move forward, please be aware of the following updates and changes:
- Parking Adjustments: Parking will be challenging as the number of available spaces will decrease and their locations will change. We appreciate your patience and flexibility during this time.
- Construction Staging Areas: You will notice construction staging areas being set up at both the High School and Middle School. These areas are essential for the efficient and safe execution of the project.
- High School Air Handler Units: This summer, we will replace the Air Handler Units at the High School. This upgrade is crucial for maintaining a comfortable and healthy learning environment.
- Masonry Repointing and Repair: This year, you will see masonry repointing and repair work at Palermo Elementary, Mexico Elementary, and New Haven Elementary. These repairs are necessary to preserve the structural integrity and appearance of our buildings.
- Window Replacements: Windows will be replaced at all buildings this year for a phase 1 with phase 2 finished next summer. This improvement will enhance energy efficiency and the overall aesthetics of our schools.
- Middle School Bus Loop: Site improvements to the bus loop at the Middle School will be undertaken to improve traffic flow and safety. There will be a change in the traffic flow, and you will be notified by Principal Dunham as to the specifics regarding dates and instructions. Additionally, the staff parking area will be milled and repaved.
- Kitchen Upgrades: We have been upgrading the kitchens across our schools to better serve our students and staff.
- Safety and Security: We are upgrading our safety scope around mass notification and exterior notifications with special lighting.
We understand that these activities may cause some inconvenience, and we ask for your patience and understanding. The end result will be well worth the temporary disruptions.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation as we work together to enhance our school facilities.
