HS students support local veterans via annual holiday drive

A group of students from Mexico High School recently participated in the 5th Annual Veteran Stocking Drive.

The students, including those from Global History and AP courses, along with support from the school’s JROTC program, collected a variety of items for veterans at the VA Medical Center in Syracuse. The drive was organized by Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay, who represents the district and its residents in the New York State Assembly.

“Once again, I am proud of my students who wanted to give back to those who have served our country and wanted to help brighten our veterans’ holidays,” said Renee Caroccio, who teaches AP World History and Global 10 at MHS.

The items were selected from a wish list provided by the VA hospital, and the students also created heartfelt holiday cards for the veterans.
