Letter from Dr. Runner: Incident at Mexico MS 10/24

Oct. 24, 2024: 1:16 p.m.

Dear MACS Family and Community,
Following our earlier announcement regarding the social media bomb threat, we were relieved that it was found to be non-credible. Out of an abundance of caution, a trooper brought in a bomb-sniffing dog, and the building was thoroughly cleared.

We are grateful to the individual who reported the threat and encourage everyone to continue to “see something, say something.”

A special thank you to our School Resource Officer, Administrators, and law enforcement personnel for their swift and professional response.

Thank you for your continued support and vigilance.

Dr. Runner, Superintendent

Dear MACS Family and Community,

We want to keep you informed about a situation that came to our attention today. We were alerted to a social media post regarding a bomb threat at the Middle School. Following our safety protocols, we immediately notified local law enforcement. After a thorough assessment, we believe the threat is not credible. However, out of an abundance of caution, we are taking extra safety measures.

We will be bringing in a bomb-sniffing dog to thoroughly check the premises. During this time, everyone will hold in place. We understand this may cause concern, but please rest assured that these steps are purely precautionary. The safety of our students, staff, and families is our top priority.

Thank you for your attention.

Dr. Runner, Superintendent
