HS students spread holiday cheer to local VA

Students at Mexico High School helped spread holiday cheer to veterans staying at the VA Hospital in Syracuse.

A number of Renee Caroccio’s Global 10 classes combined with the school’s Junior ROTC leadership course to collect new gifts and make cards for the holiday season.

“I was so excited to see all the donated items the students brought in,” said Caroccio. “They loved writing their messages to the veterans in the Christmas cards knowing they’d be able to read the messages to spread cheer and give thanks for all they’ve done serving our country.”

The gift drive was organized by state Assemblyman Will Barclay’s office to benefit the Syracuse VA Medical Center and those who served the country.
