HS senior donates gifts and goods this holiday season

A Mexico High School senior’s non-profit organization is giving back this holiday season.

Emalee Herrington has worked diligently under her organization Emalee’s Musical Medicine to purchase, package and deliver health care items, holiday treats and gifts to 30 babies, children and teens in Oswego County.

The MACS senior also adopted four local families and purchased, packaged and delivered holiday meal fixings, clothing and gifts. Herrington added she is very thankful for the donations made by a few “amazing community members” to help her efforts.

“We are extremely proud of Emalee for her hard work and all our students who have been giving and doing community service throughout the holidays,” said Mexico High School Principal Ryan Lanigan. “There’s nothing better than giving during this time of year.”

Herrington said she’s been donating similarly since she was eight years old, but this is the largest volume of donations she’s taken on in one year.

Emalee’s Musical Medicine works year-round to use her music coupled with community service to help give back and make a difference in the community.
