Mexico High School’s Rocket Club team earned second place overall in the senior division during the 2019 CNY Rocket Team Challenge, held June 1 atop Syracuse University’s Skytop Field.
The team — named the “Neil deGrasse Tysonettes” — consisted of Kimberly Heagerty, Molly Henderson, Juliana Hernandez, Mckenna House, Tessa LeClair, Alayna Walker and Jade Windey.
In addition to placing second overall, Mexico’s group earned a special award for highest flying graduator rocket. Teams are judged on trajectory, rocketry knowledge, launch performance and other criteria.
This was the 17th annual CNY Rocket Team Challenge, sponsored by the Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science and Technology (MoST) and Syracuse Rocket Club.
