UPK Graduates Ready for Kindergarten
Palermo Elementary School’s youngest students are prepared and ready to be leaders as they begin their traditional Mexico Academy & Central School District education in the fall.
The Universal Pre-Kindergarten students showcased their literacy, fine-motor, verbal and social skills during a recent UPK graduation celebration in front of a packed multi-purpose room. UPK teacher Kim Christopher, along with some helpers, led the 25 students in song and hand choreography to provide a synopsis of what they learned all year.
Principal Margaret “Peggy” Scorzelli said the students have left the UPK program with an understanding beyond academics. They are now prepared and ready to enter kindergarten in the fall, know their way around the building, familiarized themselves with staff members, developed friendships and blossomed with social interactions.
“Thank you for sharing your kids with us,” she said to the parents and guardians.
The event concluded with a slideshow of highlights from the 2017-2018 school year and guests joined their graduates for juice and cookies. Christopher also prepared a scrapbook and UPK report card for each child to take home.
