I'm Rick Lenahan, 7th grade health teacher at Mexico middle school. I received my bachelor's degree in health education from Ithaca College (Go Bombers) and my Master's degree in reading education from SUNY Oswego. I began my teaching career at the APW school district as the health/critical thinking skills teacher. In 1997 I came to the Mexico district, where I've been teaching 7th grade health and coaching modified athletics ever since.
The 7th grade health curriculum is both standards-based and skill driven. Students will have many opportunities to apply new skills and knowledge in real life learning experiences and relevant situations. The focus of the 20-week course are the skills of self-management, planning and goal setting, decision making, relationship management, communication, and advocacy.
