Cheryl Barbeau

  • My name is Mrs. Cheryl Barbeau. I am a Pre-Kindergarten teacher at New Haven Elementary. I have been teaching at New Haven since 1996. I have a Bachelors Degree in Education with a Masters Degree in Reading. I am a mother of two beautiful children. I truly believe my experience of being a mom and my focus in early childhood has helped me to be a compassionate and encouraging teacher. I believe in helping each child find their full potential and encourage learning and social skills through play, hands-on activities, and modeling expectations. I have a dog named Lilly who I constantly tell the children stories about. She keeps me on my toes! When I am not at school I enjoy spending time with my family. I enjoy hiking, swimming, reading, and going on bike rides. I love my family and I talk a lot about them to the children. They bring so much joy and laughter to my life!

I am also an active member of New Haven's Parent Teacher Club and a proud member of our school's Leader In Me Lighthouse team. I believe developing a strong foundation for character development and providing activities for the children to experience at our school that will provide them with wonderful memories to hold onto for a lifetime! I also believe in the importance of developing a great relationship with my parents. We work together as a team to provide the best education and experience while at New Haven.

I look forward to getting to know each child in my class. I know we will have a great year of fun and learning!
